how we work
Briefing
Bareface will forward a client brief to be completed and returned to the agency in order for budgets to be finalized. The brief will require information on the following points:
1. Description of project – editorial, photo library, advertising, corporate brochure, etc.
2. Wardrobe and props, set building requirements.
3. The number of international crew who will be traveling along with their arrival and departure dates.
4. The type of accommodation required i.e. four or five star hotel, private house, apartments.
5. A list of local crew required - make-up, hair, wardrobe, photographers assistant.
6. Number of models per day (men, women, children and characters) - what usage and buyout will be required.
7. Extra equipment requests.
8. The length of production (expected) including wrap and one continguency/weather day.
9. Reference images, storyboards to be attached if possible.
10. List of locations, studios and other requirements
Costing
After Bareface has received the completed brief you will be contacted by a member of staff to discuss the brief further before a final costing is submitted. Once the budget has been agreed you will receive an invoice for 75% to be paid in advance. On receipt of this payment we will confirm all pencils held on your behalf.
Pre-production
This includes all arrangements made prior to the arrival of the team including travel, hotel, vehicles and transfers, location scouting and photography, laser copying and courier of location photographs and model z-cards, casting director, location bookings and equipment hiring, acceptance of collection shipments and all other necessary arrangements and pre-planning. In most instances, this is a one or two day separate charge, unless the pre-production arrangements are considerably more elaborate or time consuming. In addition, the client is billed for expenses incurred on his/her behalf, including telephone, film processing and copying, courier fees, etc.
Production Manager
Each team will have a full time production manager from the day of arrival to the day of departure who will be responsible for the daily co-ordination and management of the shoot including model confirmation, producing daily call sheets, creating production schedules, optioning and confirming locations, crew management, catering and meals, weather updates and reports, equipment confirmation and delivery. The production manager will provide daily updates on the budget, either on set or via telephone and keep the client updated on any unforeseen expenses or provide costings for additional requests.
Post-production
This is only charged to clients requiring additional time for the return of all hired equipment or if the project has gone overbudget or involved considerable additional man hours.
Crew
In addition, there are highly qualified crew available in the UAE, including photographers, hair & make-up artists, stylists, grips and photo assistants. Bareface will hire the crew on behalf of the client and this cost will be reflected in the budget. in addition to the production manager, we can also provide a production assistant, who serves as an additional driver as well as support for the production team. While it does add slightly to the production cost our clients have always found this to be a cost-effective measure since it ensures continual back up and support.
Transportation
Nearly all teams have a 15 seater mini van and a truck, or a smaller 1 ton panel van for collection of all equipment. Please note that the cost quoted includes 250km mileage per day.
Catering
We will provide each team daily with on-site catering including cold drinks, coffee, tea, first aid items. Our catering team will be there to provide this service from an early morning shoot to a desert location.
Photo lab and equipment
We will introduce your photographer to two labs and encourage him/her to submit tests to both in order to decide on preference. We will supply you with full price lists upon request for each variable. Lighting and camera equipment is also available for hire in Dubai, but we urge you to submit a comprehensive list of your requirements in advance so that we can confirm what is available and place options where necessary.
Carnets
Please note that there is no carnet system as yet in Dubai. However, we do advise the photographer carries government shooting permission. It is not advisable to show it to customs as this often encourages unnecessary attention and it is normal to walk through with all equipment.
Visas
Please double check as visa requirements can change.
Locations
Bareface has it's own in-house location library that you can browse prior to arrival. should you require a specific venue or location please complete the brief and we will provide you a selection to choose from. a pre-brief will always make the selection process easier and allow us to ensure that we only short list places that match your requirements and are available at that time. should you not find the location you are looking for in the library we can send out a scout.
Photographers
Bareface represents premium regional and international photographers from the Middle East market specialising in everything from people to still life, fashion to lifestyle.
